Mark Stuart started playing the guitar in 1980.
Around the age of 12, after a few years of Folk and then Classical playing, he discovered the Electric guitar, Blues and Jimi Hendrix!

Mark began teaching guitar shortly before leaving school - in 1991 – when he also joined a hard working British Blues band, playing extensively around the U.K. and Europe for a couple of years. This gave him some invaluable early professional playing experience and he found himself playing alongside an array of older, more experienced musicians ( Zoot Money, Dick Heckstall-Smith, John Etheridge and Georgie Fame amongst others… ).

Over the next few years Mark played with countless bands ( gigging and recording most styles of music ) and had the privilege of working in the studio with the late Gus Dudgeon ( record producer – David Bowie, Elton John, XTC, The Beach Boys, Chris Rea, Fairport Convention etc etc ).

After several years as a busy guitarist and ‘part-time’ tutor Mark made the decision to reverse the two, quickly building up a very successful teaching ‘practice’, enabling him to go for quality rather than quantity where the gigs were concerned!

In 2001 Mark formed HOMEBREW with Louisiana vocalist / frontman Nolan Wiltz ( to be later joined by guitarist Mark Robinson ) with the intention of writing, recording and performing Blues-with-a-difference. Homebrew recently released their 2nd album – Stealin’ Time.

In early 2008 Mark recorded with Australian based British Sax player Dave Wright on the latter’s ‘Loopy’ – each musician recording on opposite sides of the world.

Mark Stuart has also written a fair amount of solo / duet guitar music which he intends to start recording – tomorrow, or the next day….
